I was assisting in a Boy Scout group bicycle Merit Badge ride when I noticed one of the other assisting adults was a really fit female Mom. Upon this catching my attention, I side-by-side cycled up and asked her what she did to be so fit. This is how I met Dangerous Donna. We cycled and chatted about health and fitness. I told Donna that I was trying to get ready to get myself back in shape. However, like so many other adults with family; I let life run me, instead of me running my life. Donna’s response was, “What are you waiting for?” During the next few weeks the “what are you waiting for?” festered in my mind until I said to myself, “Josh, what are you waiting for?!?” I called Donna asking her to help me set and achieve optimal health/fitness goals. This is where my “dangerous curves” journey begins! Donna and I set a three month goal. Before, during and after photographs were scheduled which I believed would motivate and inspire me to keep going. We discussed my lifestyle, personality type, current nutrition and health status. I was confused on how I always carry extra body fat, although, I put in plenty of weekly cardio miles on my bike and most days only eat two meals. Donna asked, “In a few words, what is your goal?” I replied, “I want to be visually stimulating.” We laughed and Donna wrote this on my file. Donna put a complete plan together for me. Photos were taken; body and body fat measurements were taken which gave me a perfect numerical representation of where I was truly starting. The first training program was created and Donna instructed me through to make sure I learned proper technique. The first nutrition meal plan was assigned, discussed and then I was turned loose for a month to do the work. I already had a gym membership elsewhere. However, Donna assured me through coach texting, phone calls and emails, I could accomplish my goal. I texted Donna multiple times weekly about my eating and workouts and it was a great feeling to know that I had professional support and encouragement . After a month of hitting it like a “mad man,” I was remeasured and second stage photos were taken. I had lost eleven pounds in a month’s time! That is great, right? Wrong. Donna was able to see from my body fat measurement that some of the weight I lost was muscle weight. I had actually not eaten enough for the amount of calories I was burning. At this time, I was instructed to increase my fuel intake and eat more protein due to how awesome I was performing on my strength and cycling workouts. Without Donna’s knowledge, I would have continued burning up muscle, burning less fat with every ounce of lost muscle, eventually becoming weaker and no closer to my goal. Donna designed a second strength-training program to alternate in with the first program. This second program addressed my specific areas of muscle structure weakness. I learned this program at the Dangerous Curves facility and then was able to perform these new exercises properly at my membership gym. Donna did visit my gym one time to observe my training technique and performance of the program. In addition, Donna instructed me to move onto the next meal plan process. Each time I went in for body fat measurements it excited and motivated me to see where I could be by the next month. For me, the consistent body fat measurement information is the most useful to have; it is priceless. Upon my accomplishment, I have to say that there is no feeling in the world like the strength, energy and clarity of mind I receive from truly being fit! It is an awesome feeling that inspires me to share with others. I just earned my first certification to each “Spinning” class at the local gyms, in hope, that I can inspire others to go on the wonderful journey I have experienced. I encourage anyone who reads this to look deep inside and see that person you want to be. This is attainable to “you” who truly wants it. Many people are just like me; they need a companion for their journey to be fit. I could not have accomplished this journey without the knowledge and assistance of Donna.
